Every year, we have millions of interactions with members of the public. Some, as simple as saying hello and others - at the height of a traumatic event. Regardless of the circumstances, communication is at the centre of what we do. As a police service, we value consistent and transparent correspondence and work to maintain the trust of the community we serve.
Compliments
Throughout the year, the Waterloo Regional Police Service receives several letters, emails, tweets, and phone calls from citizens about their experience with our Service. Did you have a great interaction and want us to know about it? You can tag or mention us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or submit it here via our mobile-friendly form.
Complaints
Waterloo Regional Police Service is committed to working with all members of the community and we hold ourselves accountable in everything we do. Although members of the public always have the right to make a complaint directly to the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD), members of the public are also welcome to speak to the on-duty staff sergeant to discuss their concerns. To speak to the on-duty staff sergeant please call:
- North Division (45 Columbia Street East, Waterloo) - 519-570-9777 ext. 6310
- Central Division (134 Frederick Street, Kitchener) - 519-570-9777 ext. 4420
- South Division (176 Hespeler Road, Cambridge) - 519-570-9777 ext. 2210
All complaints made about a police service go to the OIPRD. The OIPRD will review the complaint and decide how to proceed. The police service in question, another police service or the OIPRD themselves may investigate the complaint. The outcome of all complaints are reviewed by the OIPRD. Additional information about the OIPRD can be found on the OIPRD website.
