The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is committed to protecting the privacy of those who visit our website and social media platforms. As such, we have taken appropriate measures to ensure the privacy of any personal information provided.
Please note that changes to this Privacy Statement may occur as technologies and business requirements change and any such changes will be posted on this page.
WRPS will not use any information provided by you for any reason that is inconsistent with the purpose for which the information was provided. Visitors will not receive correspondence from WRPS on any subject other than those they have given us permission to contact them about.

The information (including images) contained on WRPS’s website is the sole property of the WRPS and its Board and is provided for the information and benefit of the public, in particular, the residents of the Region of Waterloo. The information (including images) may be used or reproduced in an unedited or altered state (unless with written permission in advance) and with appropriate credit/sourcing to this website without the need for specific permission (unless otherwise indicated regarding any particular piece of information or image).
The crest and/or shield of the Waterloo Regional Police Service shall not be used without explicit written permission.
However, the WRPS or its Board reserves the right to withdraw this permission if it is deemed that the information is being used contrary to the above permission terms or used in an unacceptable manner (e.g., to assist in an unlawful act; to promote hate, bullying or intolerance; to mock or discredit someone or an organization’s reputation, etc.) – the determination of such is at the sole discretion of the WRPS or its Board.
The WRPS is subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).
As such, people who send messages must be aware that personal and other information contained in electronic correspondence (or printed versions thereof), which are directed to the WRPS, are subject to MFIPPA and may be deemed releasable under this legislation. Therefore, the anonymity or confidentiality of the sender and any information contained within the correspondence cannot be guaranteed. Electronic messages residing on a system outside those domain names owned by the WRPS, but deemed to be in the custody and control of the WPRS, may also be releasable under this legislation.

Use of Collected Information
WRPS does not collect information for commercial or marketing purposes, and will not sell, exchange, or otherwise distribute the information collected through this website. The WRPS collects only the minimum information needed to meet the purpose for which the collection is required.
Use of “Cookies”

- Due to the large volume of comments and messages received every day, we cannot commit to responding to everyone; nor is it our intention to respond to comments unless we deem it necessary or desirable.
